Closed length, stroke, lose connections and end connections are important. Rod diameter and cylinder bore are important as well to maintain the loader performance.

On the 4030 it talks about moving the tractor steps, upper different than other tractors. Since I've been informed that the 148 loader fits tractors up to '55 models, its sure that a newer operator's manual will have details on how to mount it on the 2640. It looks like JD kept the side rails the same for a long time. Gerald J.
